We’ve just been to have a look at the Kia EV6 and the VW I.D 5. The EV6 is very stylised with fancy bits and bobs that will likely fail in no time at all like the pop-out door handles and so on. Looks fancy inside but the boot is no good for us. Far too shallow for my guide dog so we won’t be taking 1 for a test spin. The I.D 5 is everything that others have said, togh good and bad but the boot is more dog-convenient. Frustrating though that you can’t add a powered-tailgate as an option let alone it being standard. After sitting in the EV6 GT S the I.D 5 Style felt quite low spec. Delivery in November if you order now. While we were being ignored at the Kia dealership we also poked around the Sportage for a while. Pretty nice interior , huge in the rear seats for the teenagers and the boot is a good size. Low entry, minimal lip, nice and wide and good ceiling height. On paper the boot in the PHEV is a good chunk smaller but in the real world it doesn’t look much different at all and still plenty big enough. Shame the fuel efficiency is poor even with the PHEV. Not due to order until Oct but our list remains Karoq for an ICE, Austral for hybrid, and Enyaq if we take the leap to EV.
