    I agree that a good discussion is beneficial when there are many different perspectives. However, starting one by implying that those that don’t agree are in some way less aware than you is not a good way to get your message across!

    As others have stated, 2030 was an arbitrary date plucked out of the air and concerned supply of new vehicles only. Already we see signs of this date being pushed further back and will possibly become aspirational rather than fixed. Even so, if  and when there is a cut off date, there will be a decade or so of existing ICE vehicles on the road.  16% of cars in UK are EV, the infrastructure is nowhere sufficient, technology is still expensive and limited and very expensive so do you think that all this will change in just over 6 years?

    The government can only mandate so far before people rebel. Look at Thursdays by elections. Tories thrashed in two but won the one where people decided their rights to their cars were infringed enough.
    People will move to EV when it is technically compelling enough, not because some politicians tell us we have too.
