Firstly don’t assume that the 2030 deadline is set in stone, it could well be moved or scrapped altogether if ICE technology makes dramatic advances. Even if it does happen on schedule there will be a booming market for used ICE vehicles for years after for the millions of motorists who don’t have adequate access to charging infrastructure. Don’t view the future through battery powered rose tinted spec’s, the future is mixed.
I don’t think there’s much doubt that the 2030 deadline will be pushed back or scrapped altogether. There is no way the infrastructure will be in place for electric vehicles even by 2030. This was Boris’s badly thought out idea and now he’s gone a new PM won’t saddle himself with the headache of going all electric and the country not being ready for it. The price of EV’s will have to come down massively for drivers to give up their ICE vehicles.
