EV’s are a great choice if you can charge at home and don’t do that many long journeys. I’d have one in a heartbeat if I could charge at home.
However I don’t see them being the solution or the future, everybody is hanging their hat on them right now because there’s no alternative and they have to be seen to be doing something. It’s already been proven that over the full lifetime of a vehicle a hybrid has a lower carbon footprint than an EV.
Projects like the Renault & Geely joint venture will eventually produce highly efficient petrol hybrids that will offer a much better all round package.
The future undoubtedly includes EV’s but they won’t be all that’s on offer, the 2030 ban will be scrapped eventually.
