I test drove one last week and wasn’t at all impressed.
Don’t get me wrong, the build quality was great as was the retention of some physical buttons but the engine and comfort were a real disappointment.
Whilst 163bhp would seem to be reasonable, in reality it was lacking and extremely raucous. The lack of a turbo meaning you have to keep the revs high, making the engine scream, not at all pleasant. Fuel consumption wasn’t great either only returning 32.9mpg on my test route of mixed road types.
Personally, I found the seats too hard and unsupportive and the suspension too firm, meaning any unavoidable pot holes were unsettling as they crashed through the chassis. Out on the road it seemed a little bouncy at times with understeer on corners.
Of course, these are only my findings and you may find it very different depending on your needs and preferences. I’m comparing it to my current 2.0l petrol X1 which has cosseting sports seats but with the sports suspension deleted.
