The demonstrator RAV4 I tried a couple of years ago was the Sales Managers car (bit manky inside, baby seats fitted etc.) I took it out for 2 hours, it was actually very good, plenty of power, decent economy (doubt he ever plugged it in, it was barely over empty) at 52mpg and was better than the Kuga I tried the same day. Only thing was its quite tall, so its more a climb in than sit in (well, for my short legs at any rate) but obviously everyone will be different.
Loads of space, better driving position and seat over the Outlander I rented for a week. Didn’t feel overly premium, but did feel very practical and durable in that way Toyotas do.
