whats the cheapest to run and have on motability the deposits are high , is it worth paying the large deposit example :- Kia EV6 GT line AWD £7999 not so much can you afford the deposit,, its is it worth paying that deposit iv looked at hyunda tucson phev ultimate 4wd its £5499 but i think it was £5799 any idea

Someone posted an interesting article the other day talking about VW cutting production of BEVs due to demand slowing down. The article also mentioned that other manufacturers were also experiencing a slowing of demand for BEVs. Related to this, retail prices for some BEVs are falling. Tesla, as one example, has reduced prices several times now. Others will have to follow to remain competitive and to improve demand.

The relevance of all this to Motability (and your question) is that the excessive APs that have been asked for many BEVs won’t be sustainable. On another thread, someone is understandably upset that they have just taken delivery of a VW ID5 for which they paid an AP of £6,995 and the AP has now dropped by £4,400 to £2,595.

I’m not interested in getting a BEV at present but, if I was, I would be looking at those with significantly lower APs so that, if it subsequently drops, you won’t get your fingers burnt to the same degree. Also, given the limitations of BEVs, the main motivation for getting one seems to be lower running costs. It therefore seems contradictory to offset much of the running cost savings with a massive AP?
