My example of asking MB to sell us my Moms MB car when she was in terminal decline last November (she died in Dec), The car was only approx 8 months old and had just over 2k miles on it. They wanted £38200 despite them paying just over £30k for the car themselves. We would have been happy to pay them up to £35k for the car but they would not budge. We told them to stick it because we could have a brand new vehicle for £39k with full 3 yr warranty plus us as first owner. We purchased the same car and colour from the same dealer the original car came from and dropped the old car off when we picked the new car up end of November. We have been looking on autotrader since to see when it came up for sale. For months there was no sign of it but about 6-8 weeks ago it showed up in the north east at a dealers and was being offered at £31999. It has not sold and the price is now £2999. Shame on MB for not selling to us at a decent price and still getting more than they sold it to a dealer for. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202303315840106?sort=price-asc&advertising-location=at_cars&battery-range=OVER_200&include-delivery-option=on&make=Volkswagen&model=ID.4&page=2&postcode=wv113ty&radius=1500&fromsra

I believe we should be given a discount that reflects the VAT free price Motability paid for the car. It’s scandalous that MB will sell your car to a profit making dealer for a better price than they’ll sell it to you.
