HI Leo, what  MB told you is just not correct I have had four private plates on five vehicles ie … AMG  GTC x2, and MG X2 (not the same plate) all they asked was is the number plate personal to you …all times I told them it was purchased as a present twice and once each refered to the vehicle make, never, never lied to them if  MB were not happy and told me not to fit them I would not have done so, after all it is their rules we play by and we must play by them or forefit the scheme, also if you don’t tell MB about a change of registration plate your insurrance will be void MB MUST be informed of any changes, this is only right. Just as a ‘by the way’ if you are allowed to change your plates make sure they are legal, type, spacing, font, garage name, kite mark ect. if not MB will not be held responsible if you get a fine, they will know because MB are the reg. owner, I don’t think they would be too happy having to deal with extra paperwork through this. Just another thing I have learnt over the years is if you want to transfer the plate and place it on retension or put it on your new vehicle you will need to pay the £80 (last time I did it)  to dvla, BUT keep your old original number plates the vehicle was delivered with… I have found your vehicle, if it has the personal plates removed, is put back on the number that was taken off.

anyway play by the rules and there should’nt be any problem
