I agree with all that’s said in the last post. Also, many Chinese manufacturers will not bother converting some or all of their models to right hand drive, so we will miss out on any of those. A current example of no RHD is MG’s Marvel R, released in Europe in 2021, not seen here, despite the UK being MG’s biggest Euro market.
Nio is on a roll and has already installed a lot of battery swap stations in Norway. More expensive than charging, but less hassle, so perhaps not something all scheme members would buy into (its a subscription service) but very funky tech with the car self parking and the full automated swap. Bjorn was impressed, albeit with a few moans about having to stay in the car twiddling thumbs for 5 mins (like passengers in an ICE refuel).
I am sure they will come, they have the volume sales at home to generate the cash they need to swamp Euro manufacturers. Quality is increasing exponentially as they mature, much as Japan then Korea did. BYD just need to ditch the naff boot logo!
