I’m not sure if you’re looking at the prices correctly, Chinese prices will be a fraction of what they’ll be when they finally reach our shores. As for battery swaps, you’ll need a swap station near you, so that’s another infrastructure that’s not even considered let alone adequate.
In China the Avatr 11 is between $47,000 and $63,000 so by the time it gets here it’ll be way past the ceiling for the scheme. Again the Zeekr 001 sells in China for $44,000 so will be far away from scheme pricing, the 348 mile X looks a better prospect but at a current $27,600 in China it’ll be much nearer £50,000 if it ever gets here, I’m not sure a Chinese new brand with an AP between £6k and £8k would excite many of us.
Either way, the current timescales for getting Chinese cars on sale in any quantity over here appear quite sizeable. I’ll watch with interest but I’m definitely not holding my breath.
