Hi… Advice needed.. My lease extension ends on the 18th. After speaking to a Motability rep and explaining that I am finding it difficult to find a suitable car as most of the ones I was interested in have gone from the scheme, I was advised.. Once you have placed an order you can keep your current car until the new one is ready, if however something more suitable comes onto the scheme while waiting you can cancel and order a different car… If I placed an order with extras added and later cancelled, not saying I will, how would that sit with the dealer/Motability? would I have to pay for the extras on the cancelled car order? Thanks for any info.
At no stage do you enter into a legally binding contract with the dealer, so you are free to cancel at any time. Ideally, don’t pay for any optional extras up front. Whilst the dealer is obliged to refund you, some make it difficult. Personally, I would never cancel once the car has been built, but technically you can do so right up until the day of collection when you put your PIN to accept the car. That is when the legally binding contract (with Motability Operations) kicks in.
