    I agree.

I am not a Royals sycophant, and if I’m honest, lI’m not keen on the attitude of some of the firm, and I don’t like Prince Andrew, who thinks that he is a cut above everyone else, and his judgement is clearly suspect.

I have not really watched any of the Royal weddings on the TV, but I do regularly watch the Trooping of the Colour, and I do firmly believe that we are a very much richer nation for having a Royal Family, and it is clear that the cost of maintaining the Royals , including ‘ the Nation’s’  palaces,  is excellent value for money & is one of the best investments the country could make,

The Royal Family, like most families anywhere , is not perfect of course and for clarification,  most of their property belongs to the Country, ie ‘us’, they only have use of it, at our discretion, and at least it is preserved for the nation, not sold off cheaply like our gold reserves were or destroyed forever as per ISIS  crimes in Iraq.

As I see it, The Royal Family has become, ‘first & foremost ‘, a  ‘commodity’ to be hawked around the globe as a sales tool for GB plc. and to this end, they are a huge , huge success and long may it continue.

Even the far left countries ( including the Socialist Republic of South Wales where I grew up ) have a hierarchy, albeit they are  not called Royals but something else!!) but they are paid for by the state, usually by stealing and stealth, and then salting it away in Switzerland, and most invariably keep the peasants down in the dirt, or even under the dirt?

Our Royal Family , despite the occasional slip up, is nothing like that , as the power lies with the people **, and they are just figureheads, – they may have been like the others hundreds of years before we were born, but not in our lifetime, so it’s not relevant!

If they were replaced, there would invariably be a President instead – look at Ireland  or Imagine a President like Trump, or God Forbid’, President Corbyn?.

Each of  these  would likely cost just as much , if not more, and be nowhere near as effective at attracting people to the UK as the Royal Family – people who spend, spend ,spend!

** I jest of course , after the debacles at Westminster for the last couple of years, it is clear that the power lies with a couple of hundred people , not the population

Prince Harry as an example was , a first rate success – he is a minor Royal who has been elevated to a ‘major’ role in the sales process by marrying someone with history which has created a much bigger interest both home and abroad than marrying some obscure Chelsea bird would have brought?

Their wedding created a huge Global interest in the U.K., much much more than the alternative would, and the knock on effect to global sales of GB goods and services was huge – just look at the amount of publicity that the U.K. is getting worldwide.

The amount of business the Royals bring to the UK, albeit perhaps some of it not as obvious as others, helps to top up the Treasury’s finances , and we would be substantially worse off without this business / income generated by the Royal Family.

So, as some would like, getting rid of them for purely selfish ‘political’ reasons would be shooting ourselves in the foot – in fact both feet, and I’m not having a go at anyone specifically but if anyone out there thinks that there are any political appointees/republicans who could sell this country better than the Royals , “for such a small investment “, then they are very wrong!
