Whilst I could  and tend to agree with your comment, why should we the end user be worried when European manufacturers are cosying up to Chinese counterparts as a seperate entity or not. In the same breath European manufacturers are embracing Chinese battery cell’s. Very few are concerned about the mining of raw materials in China, Indonesia and else where, and the effects it has on peoples health in those countries. EV’s aren’t as green as manufacturers and governments would like us to believe, and shifting carbon foorprints to other countries so we can be carbon neutral is bull sh!t. I’m not a climate activist, infact far from it. However if these vehicles are cheaper to run the majority of the population will embrace it sooner or later.

However the video you posted is somwhat skewered to say the least and heres why – The bulk of the cars shown are ICE/Hybrid vehicles (if you slow down the viseo of the cameraman whizzing around , you will see the grills)

The commentator makes specific mentions of highend cars such as the “Tang” to fool watchers, making them think they are EV’s – yet the “Tang” is a ICE or a PHEV in China!

Now to the point – China has not long come out of its zero Covid policy which will explain the explain the build up of dust! China is introducing its “V1” vehicle emission standard, which is understood to be one of the toughest in the world – The policy is set to go into effect on the 1st July. Vehicles not meetin the “V1” standard,  face the risk of being squeezed out of the market. This has prompted conventional carmakers to rapidly liquidate inventories and a price war has evolved! This fierce competition has spilled over into the EV market as subsidies for EV’s discontinued at the end of 2022, prompting price reductions in the EV market. According to CNBC Tesla started the EV price war in China.

Several major automakers in China are racing to slash prices on both new-energy (NEV) or conventionally powered vehicles, hoping to survive an escalating price war as consumer demand weakens for conventionally powered vehicles amid China’s “V1” policy changes. It could be a sign of what will happen in Europe around the time ICE/Hybrid are discontued!
