    HI Mark

I took delivery of an Tiguan R-Line in February with the 1.5 TSi ACT Engine and have found it to be quite a lively engine though only just coming out of cold dark days have only just about finished running the engine in but when it needs to go, it goes with no problems at all. I have the 150PS engine and think the R-Line in petrol form is only available in this power however the Life trim does come with a less powerful 130PS engine that oddly has the same AP as the 150 version, unless it changed on Q2, so something to lookout for should you order the Life trim. Although I have never driven the 130 engine I think it maybe under powered for such a heavy car and like I said with the 150 you will not be holding up any traffic.

Really early days for me to give MPG but so far its coming in around 30MPG in the city and about 41 on a country run, overall about 37MPG but this has been in cold weather so far so assume this will improve with the weather. That said my KIA Caren diesel turned an average of 38MPG over the 4 plus years I had it so I’m more than happy with the Tiguan fuel performance, more so with the cheaper petrol prices.

Coming from the KIA Carens that’s a MPV and drove like a works van driving the Tiguan has been like a dream for me and when I drive a 100 miles its seems like I’ve only driven 20 miles compared to the Carens.

As it was hard to find any cars in stock at dealers when I ordered I never really bothered with the Skoda and Seat versions but in the past I found while the Skoda generally have a better build quality, not that the Tiguan is bad, but I found that a lot of things that are standard on the Tiguan have to be bought as packages in the Skoda’s.

I haven’t got the reverse camera on mine but the all round sensors are very good and the display on the infotainment centre screen is very informative as to what’s around the car.

Delivery times for my R-Line was a problem and waited 15 months for delivery however with the R-Line Edition I know the dealers were having these in the showroom and with a new model going on order in the autumn there’s a good chance of a faster delivery of the Editions.

Thought I better mention the one and only problem I had with my Tiguan with that being the boot floor?. The Tiguan no longer comes with a variable floor so there’s a big dip in the boot and for myself this was a problem loading my scooter into the car with the use of just one hand so I require a perfectly flat floor to slide it straight in. I overcame this by building a frame and making a floor base with 5mm plywood covered in carpet and while it looks the part and nobody would even know that it wasn’t OEM its a bit of an annoyance to have to do on a car that cost £35K. You can get the variable floor if you order a full size spare wheel but like youI didn’t wanted to spend a lot of money on something that’s not mine.
