I haven’t had any other drivers for my car since 2008 but my thinking is if you add drivers I can’t imagine word of mouth would be good enough for proof of insurance. I would think if you added someone by phone that insurance would not be valid until you receive a cover note in the post, via e-mail or through your on line Motability account.
I could be wrong as they might let you do that for an emergency driver and is something I’ve often wondered about should I be taken ill out of the blue while out and about so would be handy to know if anyone here has used a phone call to RSA to add a temporary driver and if so, how do you prove that driver is covered.
