£100 only buys you about 12 gallons today (even less when it was like 1.85/L). So that 400 miles equates to about 33mpg. Not great I know but as an urban mpg for a 2.0L brick, maybe not quite as appalling as you perceive? I do understand it’s still expensive though, even if the actual mpg isn’t catastrophical and hope you at least get some reimbursement for the school run.
