The Motability scheme does not supply cars to the vast majority of High Rate Mobility PIP claimants, whilst it’s still the largest lease fleet in the country, it doesn’t, nor do I think it ever will, cater to the vast majority. Many not taking up the scheme may have reasons that the money for them is better spent.
My statement still stands, that for those leasing a new car, the deal with Motability financially, is the best lease around.
buying new cars 3/4 are financed on lease. According to Which?
Yes, if the scheme does not have the particular car/spec you want, then you can do a private lease I’m sure many of those not using the scheme do this, but financially, that will be an on cost.
if you buy a second hand car, then again, unless you put down a larger deposit, you will still see a large monthly payment compared to Motability, plus costs for insurance, tyres, servicing, repairs. And depreciation.
As I said, Motability is not for everyone, but I do not believe you can get a better financial package than Motability, but no one is forced to participate.
