I hope that this doesn’t break any rules? there has been a change in the Blue Light Card (the discount service for all NHS, Poluce Ambulance and fire members/ex members. They have added to the eligible list any serving or ex Service personnel to the scheme. As some may know, the MOD does have its own card the Defence Discount Services card. if you have the DDS card, or have a copy of your discharge papers, you can apply for two t=yewrs membership if the Blue Light Card for £4.99 why have both? We’ll they both have some different discounts, the blue lid=ght card giving you the Edson discount card to take 6p off a litre, plus the ASDA 10% discount on all goods. the discounts are very good on both cards tbh

It changed a year or two back to permit veterans and HM Forces to have the Blue Light Card.

Looking at my membership card now , going by the ‘Expires’ date of 31/08/22, with its standard 2yr validity I must have obtained mine in August 2020.

I thought most HM Forces and veterans were aware they could join, well certainly the ones in my circle of friends anyway.

I have certainly made great use of the 10% off at ASDA (physical shops only – not valid for online orders) amongst others.

As you say, although there is a deal of overlap between the Blue Light Card and DDS there are the odd outliers.

I have used the ‘DDS only’ British Airways 10% off a number of times as well, albeit the t&c’s are quite prescriptive and sometimes it is possible to get a better sale fare on the normal BA website. So it is always worth checking both (hint – clear cookies between searches as it often ‘remembers’ previous search prices between the DDS BA user group site and the main BA website).
