Quite an outfield question and I do hope somebody can help? Here is the scenario, we have a Motability car at present. The wife’s condition has deteriorated to the point she struggled to get in and out of it safely. We are looking to change and in principle, Motability have agreed, the problem is that upon checking we have literally just passed the 12 month remaining mark on my wife’s PIP award. I called Motability up and said is there any way around this and they were adamant there wasn’t. Also for the past couple of months, I have lost confidence in this car because of technical issues and this is making me nervous to drive the thing, the only option is I think is to put up with a car or to come off the scheme but I am loathed to do that. Has anyone had any experience with getting either Motability to be a little flexible? they suggested speaking to the DWP to see whether my wife’s award could be extended by a month, and you can imagine the response I got from the DWP- any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Additionallyt it will be difficult to finance a new car for us given the current financial situation, but I’m sure other people may have been in this position as well.
