The UK is very close joining the CPTPP. Aus and Japan are hoping the U.K. can secure accession within the next week or so, we will see. At least there is no membership fee and each country is its own soveriegn nation. A bit like the EEC that should have stayed just that!
Sorry to be negative Kezo, but think of small businesses. I could sell my £25 item to the over 400 million people in the EU and it would cost me from £6 to post. To sell to America, Japan and Australia would cost me £45 to post, my item would be too expensive for people to buy in those countries. Oh, and a lot of small businesses can’t get insurance to sell into the USA as they are rather litigious. It’s all well and good having new markets, but ignoring your closest market makes no sense at all, and the only reason they’ve done it, is an ideological hatred of the EU.
