Kezo as you know I have 2 old Samsung TVs a 40 inch in lounge and 32 inch I bedroom both the same model both on same picture settings but to me the 32 inch is a better picture ! Is it because it’s a smaller screen ? This has been a mystery to me for many years

No certainly not. If the 32″ had say 20 pixels per inch (ppi) the 40″ would have 20 ppi meaning the 40″ TV would have more pixels because its a larger TV to maintain the 20 ppi.

It could be the 32″ has a VA panel and the 40″ an IPS, however…

In your lounge do you watch TV on your sofa or the armchair next to the patio door?

When your in bed is the TV directly in front, viewing it head on?

There is also a twist here- going back as far as 2014 it become apparent that with Samung TV’s your were playing what is known as the “panel lottery”. How far before this dates back no one is sure but Samsung were using not only their own screens but that of other manufacturers such as AU Tronics and Sharp etc. It stll happens today but i’ll talk about that another day.

It was noticed as far back as 2013/4 what Samsung were doing by various people. In 2016 rtings put a document out highligting this. However a quick google search of “Samsung panel lottery” returns many results. I will go into this another day when with a TV manufacturer list.
