Our free charging in Angus stopped Oct 21, but at least Council inertia means its still 23p/kw with no overstay fees. They were pretty busy until the freeloading stopped, then dead, now busy again as home electricity costs outstrip the charger prices.

Scottish Councils are all on the same Scot Gov electricity contract, rates are much lower than 23p/kw, and most of it is bought ahead to hedge against price fluctuations, up to 4 years ahead for some of it, the bulk 1-2 years ahead.

The per kw rates are really to cover electricity and the maintenance for the chargers and the charge bays (despite maintenance not exactly seeming to be a priority).

I like the overstay fee on 50k and over chargers, I’ve come across cars parked in a rapid bay charging at 7kw and at 20%, 6 hours to full…blocking the sole 50kw charger for others (including me, arriving with 4 miles left and 12 miles to the next charger at 10pm!). But it would be silly to levy that on 7kw destination chargers.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
