Samsung AU 9000 50 inch now £379 at Costco pops likes it has good reviews but poor sound however I have earring aids so have my old set on clear speech setting I wonder if new Samsungs still have this setting in sound menu ?
The Au900 is Samsungs entry level Crystal range of TV’s and as you say edge lit. The BU series is a newer model and both have a peak brightness of 350nits more akin to a bedroom TV. As a comparison your current set as a peak brightness of 400 nits. Its good to see you are using my guide, although it ended up messy when posted for some reason.

To take you further down that list the Hisense E7HQ has a full array backlight and is also quantum dot giving a billion vivid colours and has a peak brightness 450nits. It has just had its 2 price reduction from £499 to £449 and is now £399. AO.com have 10% of voucher taking it to £360. PRC direct have it for sale a £399 with a 5yr guarantee with a link to Hisense for the guarantee. if you were interested you could get it from AO and use the link to get the guarantee or see if PRC direct would reduce it by 10%. PRC direct are part of the Euronics group.
