A second trip out to try to clear the same message. Drove along the m8 doing as instructed by dealership. Almost at Glasgow and still no luck, I’d done the required time and as it was almost 9pm and I had my 10yo son and 14yo dog in the car I decided to turn round and head home. Took the wrong turning (I don’t DO Glasgowshire for that very reason), ended up at a McDonalds, son’s eyes lit up, so that cost me a tenner.

Headed back to motorway and rejoined at this attempt. Motorway closed for significant portion of return journey (filled me with dread as its night time with my family in the car, I’m desperate for the bathroom and the warning light was STILL on.

Rejoin motorway, try again with garage instructions, this time drive past my junction all the way to Edinburgh to try in vain to get rid of the warning light.

I’ve now burned through half a tank of fuel adding more than my average weekly mileage to the car. Home at 10pm waaaay past son’s bed time. Wasted a Friday night. Exhausted.

My pcp is only 6k miles a year, a 30mile run a week adds over 1500 miles a year. I would never have bought a car that demanded such attention. I can’t afford the time, mileage and fuel (in addition to the already poor fuel economy). I work full time and husband works away for weeks at a time.

I miss my 2018 diesel Tiguan. It didn’t have any of these issues!

During the drive, I wondered how many cars on the road were purely out burning fuel to (unsuccessfully) remove the error message.

My son polished off all the nuggets and fries (assisted by the auld dog), so at least they were warm, fed and content.
