50-100 miles of diesel in any car we’ve collected
Slightly off topic – our Kuga sprung a fuel leak, 55 litres of diesel all over the motorway in just a few seconds. then stopped dead – completely drained. Took 3 flatbeds to get us home, and the dealer had to keep it for a month as it was so contaminated with diesel they had to replace a few dozen parts. When we collected it from the repair, to add insult to injury, they must’ve put about £1 of diesel in it. The nearest station was only about 1.5 miles away and the car was chugging across the line when we got there. They’d put in just enough to start it and park it in the customer collections area.
Added bonus: MPG’s actually improved somewhat after that repair, by an average of between 5%-10%, so the fuel leak must’ve been there since day 1 and then suddenly let go, but we’d had the car over 2 years by then. Over 2 years we’d spent £1000’s as we are very high milers, basically brimming the tank around 4-6 times a month, so that 10% represented a good few hundred quid!
