I don’t think we will see 2,000 vehicles on the scheme any time soon, let alone anywhere near it’s former glory.
Looking at the future, it’s highly probable between 2028-2029 the scheme will see an increase in pure ICE vehicle’s as manufacturers offload them before the 2030 ban on the sale of ICE.
In between 2030-2034 Hybrid of any form will be the majority of vehicles on the scheme, with a slight increase in BEV’s. As we approach 2033/2034 vehicle numbers on the scheme will increase again as manufacturers start to offload load hybrids prior to the 2035 ban on the sale of hybrids.
As we move forward from 2035, vehicle’s on the scheme will be alot lower and will consist of BEV’s, if prices remain high.
To summarise There will be a further two peaks close to the “ban on sale” date’s, of vehicle numbers on the scheme, before dropping back to a low number;s 2035 onwards, if BEV prices remain comparatively high at that point!
