I do the same, I have a spreadsheet where you enter your annual mileage, the fuel cost (diesel/petrol) and then the car, the fuel type, the AP and the average mpg/mpkw. It then works out the annual payment and the savings  for each model over the dearest option.

Can’t remember where I got it, but been using it for years. Currently loaded with 36k miles over 3 years, the choice between a Quashqai Teckna, Kuga Vignale FHEV, Tiguan Elegance (petrol and diesel versions) and the Xtrail NConnecta eforce it states the Quashqai as the cheapest at £2591 p/a – of course that excludes the motability payment as thats a given for them all. Next is the Kuga Vignale Fhev, just £129 a year more –  closely followed by the Xtrail. The Tiguans take up the last 2 spots.

It doesn’t do electric, but I work that out using my own 3.2 miles per kw average for the Soul. So an MG4 Trophy would be £2075 a year  – or around £500 less than the Quashqai, but its not suitable for me, so that’s a moot point. All of the current electric cars that are suitable are more expensive per annum than the above, even the dearest Tiguan Petrol choice at £3100 a year.

That’s unless I sign up to OIctopus Go – but then our daytime electric goes up well over the cap, so it might be a zero sum game.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
