Long journey 68 miles on Sunday staring off with a full battery, it was minus 6 degrees, heater on, seats on etc, we averaged exactly 54.6 mpg, when we are travelling using the ICE unit only at 60mph we regularly see 36/37mpg, we never drive at 70mph but I would imagine it to drop to 32mpg. Kezo a PHEV would definitely not suit your requirements, you would be better suited to a FHEV, is your Tuscon a pure ICE.
Yes my Tuscon is pure ICE – long term average is 32mpg, circa 40mpg on a run and 27-32 town driving I saw no point in the MHEV with quoted gain’s of 2mpg, which in the real world would be nothing, as gliders gets the same as me in his Sportage. In hindsight Ishould have had one if not for the auto.
I agree the extra weight of the battery on a run. However if I can get good mpg within a 30 mile radius where I live to make up for it – I wouldn’t mid taking a hit every 3 week on a journey.
Thanks 🙂
