An alternative for those were it is unsuitable to fit solar panels is to charge up their battery storage using off peak, Octopus Go is only for EV owners, however Octopus ECO7 is open to anyone providing 7 hour off peak electric between 00.00 to 07.00 at present off peak is just under 18 pence kWh and just over 45 pence a kWh normal rate as opposed to the current 34 pence kWh. You have to change the way you consume energy for it to work, again the advantage you can take it with you.
I already have a 4.4 kWh solar array and 5.8kWh battery that is the largest I can fit due to space, adding an extra battery is also not cost effective.
I have already signed up to go on the next Ripple Windfarm project for 2000kWh.
