In March 2022 we went ahead and fitted a 4.4kWh solar array (this was the largest we could fit) to date we have already generated over 4300kWh, previous our import 3900kWh, however the PHEV accounted for 1300kWh, leaving 2600kWh for domestic.
After installing the solar panels we noticed our import changed quite dramatically to less than 50%, the majority of our import being off peak.
In mid October we installed a Solax 5.8kWh battery, obviously that time of the year solar generation is low, the plus side we virtually store the majority what we generate, we charge the batteries off peak, in November we only imported 22kWh normal rate and December 42kWh, our electric bill for December including standing charge just over £23.00, which includes charging up the PHEV.
Unfortunately in the day our washing machine and condensing tumble dryer is on 4/5 times a week, ideally we would benefit from an additional 5.8kWh, but that is another £2,000.
Unfortunately I have to come clean I don’t have 2 barns, just a little cupboard.
Ian would I recommend a battery storage bank, along with the solar panels without doubt the best thing we have every done.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.
