Looking at that list, I wouldn’t say there are many cars on there better than what we currently have. The AP’s though is a different story altogether.
As gilders says, the printed lists were only highlights, not the full range available. Also, even in 2016 there was the 3 Series BMW and C Class Mercedes, so not exactly comparable to today!
