We all know what they claim and what you actually get can differ hugely. Of all the cars I have had the Nissan QQ was the most disappointing regarding the figures and was a 1.5 diesel.
I can say I don’t drive any of the cars any differently or on different roads and due to that I have never got or looked to get another Nissan since.
I am interested though in the new one, but really I ain’t going to drive at 60mph on the motorway or accelerate back up to speed like a snail and on a long journey I 100% of the time use adaptive cruise and let it do it all and often it’s set at 78mph, when the limit is 70mph and is safe to do so.
Around town it’s the same I ain’t speeding but also I am not slow or doing 20mph in the 30 zone like some seem to be doing and moving off so slow one could run faster, but not me anymore.
I guess mpg is important to me but so is just driving to the speed limits if the conditions allow it and that’s me! I got no issues with those that want to hypermile, but I dunno going slower than hgv’s on the MW is not for me either. how much you can get is not my concern it’s how much you can get doing the speed everyone else is pretty much doing and you are capable of doing.
I Hope the new Nissan system is better but is new to market and only time will tell what you actually get in what most consider average driving speeds on the roads, what i often do is ignore the combined figure and reset it once I on the motorway and then reset for around town and do my weekly / fornighly driving.
Then when i do a and b road journeys, I reset it once I out of out town. Take a pic on my phone of the mileage also then i can calculate over time the real figures for me for each. Not done that yet with my new car as really you need to do so many miles before the cars at it’s most efficient.
For me though around town is a killer as many journeys the engine don’t even get warmed up fully before I am back home or at the destination and that’s when it’s at it worst. With most cars I’ve had i get in the low/mid 30’s around town, but can vary alot.
