Like Struth, I like my EV, but its unlikely it will be replaced with one in 2024.

I charge at home, but the sums just don’t add up with the currently silly AP’s for anything with a decent range (unless you want an MG4, which I don’t) .

Having had a real range anxiety attack on my last long run didn’t help, and that’s with changing my driving style to nothing over mid 60’s, which, frankly, is boring as all hell on a long drive. My charging choices were A = Perth Park and Ride/B = Perth City Centre – 2 locations /C = Cupar Angus were all broken or blocked, so I had to crawl at 30mph on an A road (very dangerous at night) 10 miles to the final charger in Kirriemuir. The car registering 0 miles range for the last 6+ of those  – it refused to start as soon as I stopped. The Kirriemuir charger had a broken screen, it was just luck that I managed to get it working after 3 attempts and a call to Chargeplace Scotland – who knew about the broken screen 4 months prior but had not bothered to fix it.

A trip that should have taken around 2 hours door to door was well over 4 hours by the time I got home (only charged enough to get home – 20 mins). Not acceptable – especially as I had done the planning for charge/ have alternatives available thing. So, yes, it may be the future, but not for me until things have improved or I have no choice (I suspect the latter will be the case well before the former!

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
