@kezo happy new year to , regarding the original number that does not matter “if the private plate you purchase is going to be the first number plate registered to the vehicle, when you transfer it at a later date the DVLA would assign an age related number to your vehicle” Above ingo from http://www.plates4less.co.uk Am wanting to go with it from the start as i feel the dealer will do a good job , plus i don’t have to buy new plates and pay for them to be put on , and no additional form filling

In light of this I see no reason why the dealer shouldn’t register it and back to your original question – you could ask the dealer if a photocopy would do. If not there no harm sending the original form but, take a photocopy for your records 🙂 I think the dealer will require the original!
