Hi Macca,
I was intending to give you guys some personal feedback. Firstly, Kudos to the dealer – he gave me the X-trail to drive unaccompanied for the afternoon – I spent the afternoon driving it , approximately 40 miles.
I must admit, it felt like driving an electric – don’t think I ever heard the engine whistle driving. Instant torque when moving off from start, and smooth accelerating. I tried a variety of driving modes – eco mode felt a little sluggish and spongy, sport a bit too aggressive, but the normal driving mode was best.
I was expecting the mpg to be much better driving locally though – I was getting around 30 mpg local in normal, but eco seemed much better at around 38 mpg (quite a difference). Handling was sharp with minimum body roll, and excellent grip through cornering. The whole driving experience felt very refined and comfortable. It handled bumps and potholes very well (better than my Tiguan R-Line).
Loved the wireless apple CarPlay and the wide desktop display. The interior didn’t feel as classy to me as much as say BMW, Audi, or even VW – a lot of You Tube reviews made feel this was the case , but I don’t think so.
Finally, the boot. For car this big, how an earth did Nissan allow the boot to be so small?. It seems virtually the same size compared to my 2019 Tiguan R-Line – big disappointment there!
Overall, at present, I couldn’t get the N-Connecta trim as for me the heated electric seats and heated steering (although a luxury if I’m being honest) are a must.
Overall, I liked the car and certainly would order it – but only in the Tena trim (which I doubt would be available due to its RRP in excess of £42k).
