Maybe it was because I wasn’t at fault but when my car was written off last November I was given a month to order a car and provided with a hire car until the new one had been built (about 10 months).

I guess until the insurance payout or cars repaired, they cover the cost and you will be provided with a car by them.

Once they payout MBO, then any costs would be incurred by mbo and as prices of hire cars have gone through the roof lately, maybe the costs are just too high for Mbo to offer those cars anymore in exchange for you allowance, as they did in your case Andrew. That still suxx though and ain’t right imo, all on the scheme should be treated the same.

What I do find strange is the difference in the standard of service that can be provided by mbo, which seems now it can vary alot from customer to customer.

Another customer I know handed back his car as it had faults, they could not fix and had lost confidence in the car and ordered another car and had a hire car until his new car arrives, payed for my mbo.

Maybe it’s the question’s one asks of them and I have never thankfully, been in this position, so cannot comment on that one 1st had, but saying you’ll get a call back and getting no call is very poor indeed.

Maybe as you need a larger car than they usually supply they treating you different again that don’t seem fair and would be discrimination due to your extra needs.

Personally I’d call them again and ask for clarity and what will happen in the meantime if you was to order another car and that someone was clearly treated differently from how you are and had a car for 10 months while waiting for the new car to arrive.

The only issue I could see is if you’ve had a few accidents that was deemed your fault or knock for knock, if that is the case then mbo may remove you from the scheme but just one, I doubt it.
