Another update, OVO power have been in touch with more questions, they wanted evidence of the cross bonding between the water pipes and having had a photo of the mains incoming to the isolator switch said they needed it changing by our energy provider to be a dual pole isolator, the only thing is that it is a dual pole isolator! I sent another photo of that and said it is a double pole isolator so our supplier isnt going to change it anyway, then i pointed out that later wiring regs (edition 17 onwards) state that cross bonding of water pipes isnt needed if the ‘fuse’ box is all RCD types. i expected a ‘well it still needs to be done’ type reply but instead they just replied giving us a installation date of the 9th of Jan so all seems to be going ahead as it should be now, fingers crossed. just need the car now Hi

You will find its someone who hasn’t got a of BS7671 sitting behind a desk going from a pre-written paper.

Before I went of sick I started fitting EV chargers (no domestic) and would often fill out the paperwork along with the photo’s and send it off. Some suppliers were worse than others and many an argument was had.

Other than that supplementory bonding can be ignored if:

all main protective bonding is in place (except if any metallic pipes entering the building that have an insulating part at the point of entry (Plastic) do not need connecting to main protective bonding)

All final circuits are protected by a 30Ma RCD or RCBO’s

All extranuous in certain locations are effectiively connected to the main equipotential bonding. (The resistance between any exposed conductive parts and and any extraneous  conductive parts, has a maximun permittedresistance value is 1677 ohmes if using RCD’s)

But well done for spotting and putting them right 🙂
