    A query on behalf of my mother. She only has a credit union account into which she receives her benefit payments, an account she’s had for many years now having previously had a Post Office Care Account. When we try to register that account for her to receive any payments from Motability, it fails – presumably because it is a credit union account rather a fully fledged bank account?

    This means she has to be sent a cheque. However, her credit union do not cash cheques. Although she has ID documents sufficient to claim benefit ie council tax, utility bills, tenancy agreements etc she has no passport or driving licence having never been abroad or having driven, so opening a bank account for her or cashing the cheque is proving problematic!

    Has anyone any experience of a similar situation? Are Motability able to send the payment to her credit union directly/manually if provided with the proper documentation by the Credit Union?
