I don’t feel captive to be on the Motability Scheme if anything I feel blessed. I have a vehicle that perfectly fits the needs of my family. As you have outlined there are so many issues to being disabled and caring. I am happy that the family vehicle is not adding to these pressures and worries.
I believe that is how most people feel or they wouldn’t be on the scheme. The problem is, its getting more and more difficult to find a vehicle that “perfectly fits the needs”. I can’t comment on what the situation is on WAV side.
There is a difference between being held captive as a consumer (which we are not) or the plans to keep us captive by a company to retain their revenue stream and i refer to the latter and is clear to me that that is the case with MBO model of the scheme and I think they could do alot more to help the disabled get mobile.
