Hopefully, but I guess we’d have to assume that manufacturer cost pressures caused by inflation and component shortages is bound to adversely affect Motability and their customers just as much as it would every other leasing company?

The issue about manufacturers removing certain low end models could actually affect us adversely, as many cars on the scheme are the entry- mid level models only, whereas with other leasing companies the choice is unlimited – albeit at a cost.

I guess that the cost of living crisis is bound to slow demand for new cars, especially as those being hit most (the ‘squeezed middle’, with mortgages going up £500 a month etc) are probably the biggest customer segment when it comes to new car buying. Choice on the Motability scheme can’t get much worse (although I said that when it dropped below 2,000 cars, and again at 1,500 and again at 1,000………) so I live in hope that the only way is up!
