Agree taxes have got to rise 2-3p and to some extent public spending cut, but not at the risk of the NHS, tripple lock, or putting the poor and some middle class out in the cold. I also agree with @fwippers that they have got to be honest with the people. However that goes against the grain of politicians.
Whatever action is taken, there is no escaping the fact everyone will be worse off. I don´t think any group will be fully insulated.
