I don’t think MB can do much about choice, that’s being driven by manufacturers who in turn are making their decision based on supply chain and profit.
MB have a formula for pricing what cars are available that they know guarantees a healthy profit. I don’t see them moving away from that anytime soon.
For the vast majority of users the scheme is still good value and fit for purpose. We on here are very vocal but represent a small number of users many of whom have been on the scheme for many years and were lucky enough to get some great cars for very little money.
If you were coming to the scheme today for the first time with no prior knowledge your opinion would differ.
Like you I would love to go back to “analogue” cars but I resign myself to putting up with touchscreens and bings & bongs in return for maximum reliability and financial certainty.
We all have to weigh those decisions and make whatever choice is best for us, at least the scheme is there as one option.
