I’m fuming to say the least because I’ve never ever in my 50 years of driving know a garage to MOT first then do the service. I’ve never had a garage not bring the car back on the same day either.
I had the same issue took the car in for its MOT and service(still in warranty) MOT still had nearly 4 weeks to run.
Got a phone call to say the brakes had failed and needed changing, no problem thinks I being an ex technician I would do the work at home and bring it back for a re-test, however due to changes in the MOT I was informed I could not drive the vehicle away as they deemed it to dangerous to drive! and they would only allow the vehicle to be removed on a low loader!
When I pointed out that in all my years working in the trade when a vehicle came in for a service and MOT the service was in everycase done before the MOT they just smilled, it would seem that workshops are taking adavantage of the changes to the MOT to fleece customer as it make no sense to MOT a vehicle before the service.
