They will have extended the insurance for however long they expect you to keep the car and can keep extending as much as is required. You don’t need the certificate in a hurry as everything is recorded on the insurance database that all insurance companies and the police have access to.
My sat nav license and several other things expire on my car this month but I wouldn’t expect them to pay to renew any of it for however long my extension lasts. The sat nav will still work but won’t have live traffic or get updated.
