My family were talking about supermarket own brand butter the other day and how Aldi, Sainsbury’s and Tesco all put their own brand butter up to £1.99 per 250g block more or less on the same day.
At first we thought to ourselves that Tesco and Sainsbury’s are doing their thing with matching the Aldi price (I’m sure you’ve all seen the ads) but then it dawn on me that maybe, just maybe there operating an illegal cartel that has gone unnoticed.
It’s well known that supermarkets petrol forecourts are over charging, even with the recent cuts its still 10p a litre more than it should be according to the RAC and even premium forecourts have matched supermarket prices or even better them where they used to be 5p to 10p more expensive.
The RAC keep a keen eye on petrol price and brings it to public attention if were being robbed at the pumps but who keeps an eye out if were being robbed for bread and milk at the supermarket shelves.
