Interesting, at present there is no electric car to match the Kona at a reasonable AP, so anyone cancelling would have to settle for something with a significantly inferior range or go down the ICE or hybrid route. My delivery went from March 2022 to June then August and then surprisingly July 2022, which was met. If they can deliver in December, that’s only 3 months, which isn’t too long. From the experience on this and other forums, all Hyundai buyers are in the same boat, and in comparison, the ID.3 models are taken over 18 months, and, in some cases, orders placed in August 2021 are still awaiting a build date or have a provisional build date of March/April 2023. The question is how much you want the Kona and what alternatives are available if not, and at what lead time?
As you correctly say dealer margins are low with Motability but sales volumes high, but at least they are still on the scheme unlike many other manufacturers who have deserted it.
