I’ve just read the reviews of Sky Glass, they’re pretty appalling. I forgot it didn’t record, that’s a big no for me. A family member has it and he loves it, but his TV was pretty basic before that so I think he likes the TV more than the Glass platform.
Sky Glass does not set out to be a top end TV it is specified and priced to be a mid-market TV which it meets. It has a LCD panel with full array backlighting with a local dimming function which does not appear to be working at the moment as black bars on wide screen movies do not change with the setting.
In comparison I have just switched from a old Plasma tv that started to go faulty after 15yrs to a top end LG Ggallery series OLED with excellent viewing angles. that better last another 15yrs or more. I’m a great beliver of seperates rather than everything crammed in to one thing.
