No, disabling google location doesn’t help either. If you have a phone, you can be tracked by the government.
Personally? Couldn’t care less. If motability or the government wants to see our shopping routine, have at it. I got nothing to hide, and certainly not enough energy to make a fuss about such a non-issue, especially considering that i’m using google maps anyway, with android auto and google maps being the worst data-hogs the world has ever seen.
Do i think the “reasons” justify the cost? Nah. It’s not even a zero sum game, fitting all cars with GPS trackers is more expensive than missing the few people who abuse the scheme. Vastly more expensive. There’s no money to be gained, people who abuse the scheme still pay the fee, so there really isn’t much of an incentive in the first place.
