It is not uncommon where I live for disabled parents/ grand parents to obtain a car via the scheme for a younger family member. For many new drivers, it is far cheaper way to get themselves on the road – new car, servicing, tyres and most importantly insurance for £260 a month which some give back to their relatives. Some youngsters are paying that for insurance alone
I work with a woman who openly abuses the scheme. She has the car on behalf of her daughter who no longer lives with her plus she has a company car. Her husband uses the Motability car for his painting and decorating business and he is the only person that gets the benefit of it. The woman openly admits this and sees nothing wrong with doing it. On the subject of trackers. Under GDPR rules, Motability would need to tell you that one was fitted and for what purpose it was being used. You could then ask them for copies of information they were collecting about you.
For some people on this forum, abuse of this kind is seemingly OK. They’re probably the same people who complain about the NHS being underfunded or services being cut. No wonder the country is in such a mess.
Where have I said this is ok and how do you know whether or not I’ve reported her to Motability.
